My Story

I’m Laura Chackes, a psychologist and the owner of The Center for Mindfulness & CBT in St. Louis, Missouri. I have been teaching mindfulness to children, teens, adults, and families for over 6 years. I have also been practicing mindfulness myself and with my family since my children were very young. I have seen both personally and professionally the dramatic changes that occur in the lives of those who practice mindfulness regularly. When I practice regularly I am able to respond to my children (who know exactly how to push all of my buttons) calmly rather than with my knee-jerk reaction of yelling at them. When my husband and children practice regularly they are better able to focus in school and work, and better able to manage their strong emotions. The combination of us all practicing helps our whole family be more at peace and loving towards each other.

  • 8 weekly online video classes led by Laura Chackes, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist & Owner of The Center for Mindfulness & CBT.
  • Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6-7 pm CST for 8 consecutive weeks starting April 13th 2020.
  • Live participation through a HIPAA compliant video platform is strongly recommended, but if you are not able to attend every class live, you will be able to watch recordings of the classes.
  • Audio recordings of the meditations done in class will be available for you to download and listen to for your daily practice.
  • Handouts, worksheets, and articles will also be provided and stored on the course website that you will have access to forever.
  • You may also schedule two 30-minute 1:1 video meetings with Dr. Chackes to discuss how to help your family get the most out of the course, how to manage difficult emotions or behaviors, or any other issues that you or your family are having. 

More Details:

This course is for children and teens ages 6 to 18 with at least one parent. Additional parent(s) and siblings are welcome to participate, up to six members per family.

The full cost of this 8-week course for your entire family is $600, which is just $75 per session.
